fridge friday: 2.22

I'm going to hop on board the Fridge Friday train. I feel like I need to give a disclaimer about the awkwardness of my refrigerator and kitchen as a whole... but I'm going to save that for another Friday. Instead, here's a picture of the top shelf in my fridge:

Aside from those bread products below (a loaf of bread, tortillas, four hamburger buns - all of which are probably expired by now), that's just about all that's in my fridge at this moment. We've had our annual "Phonathon" at work - a month straight of calling people and begging for cash so we can keep our doors open - and I've worked pretty much every day/night since the beginning of the month. Not a lot of time for filling the fridge.

This year for Lent, I gave up Ranch dressing and diet root beer - two of my most favorite things in the entire world - and I left them sitting on the shelf to remind me that Lent sucks. For the last two-and-a-half-weeks, my life has been Aspartame- and Hidden Valley- free. Everytime I open the fridge, I'm confronted with two of my vices (both probably spoiled by now since they've been there since the beginning of the season, but they're staying right there till the end of it), and it's been a great practice in self control. Also a great practice in how to make Becky very grumpy.

I'm not nearly so busy at work, and STILL my fridge may be growing antibiotics and teeth.

People really do find all kinds of things to create blog phenomena, huh? 365 people in our lives, pictures of our fridge on Fridays...I grow more and more intrigued as I learn more about this blogosphere.

I say pitch the reminders of what you have given up! No need to torture yourself - unless you are into that sort of thing. ;-)

I don't think my fridge has *ever* looked that uncrowded! Always lots of junk that I can't throw away until it starts growing green stuff... :)

Good job with the Lent committments. Giving up Diet Pepsi would probably be my choice, and I just don't know if I would be strong enough.
