time of the season

Well, it's official:

I just submitted my letter of resignation to my boss.

In exactly three weeks, I will no longer be employed at my alma mater.

In exactly three weeks and one day, I'll begin my new position at Big Time University in Chicago.

I haven't quite figured out my rap on the whole subject yet, but when I get it down, I'll fill you guys in.

Hooray!

Congrats. Are you going to move to Chi-town?

Justin - thanks!! My first choice was to be in South Bend, but I couldn't find anything in my field out that way. I'm sure Chuck is breathing a huge sigh of relief that I won't be his next door neighbor now. I guess I'll just have to work that much harder to turn his daughter against him! :)

Becky - indeed!! Thanks :)

KC - Thank you :) I'm not moving immediately. I'll be staying in northwest Indiana for a while (that's the part of my rap that I haven't figured out yet), probably for a few months. But I really want to move to Chicago or the suburbs at some point... maybe towards the end of the summer. I have to give myself time to make a new friend who wants to be roommies :)

KC said...

Haha - recent developments means I need a roomie. Go figure.

Oh, my God, Becky. Becky!

That is awesome. Congratulations! Can't wait to learn more.

(Also, I must point out that my last day at Saint Joe was May 13, 2005, also after three years of employment. Methinks the PR job at the Joe is cursed. Cursed! Just like the Defense Against the Dark Arts professorship.)

Thanks, Frema!! I don't know if it's so much that the PR office is cursed or that 3 years is all anyone can bear in this office ;) Although it does appear that I'm copying your entire life: same undergraduate degree, same first career, same office, same apartment, same graduate degree (albeit I didn't finish mine)... and now same end date. Don't hate me for being a copycat :)

Congrats, Becky! Good luck with the new gig!

During my time at the local paper, I actually worked with quite a few different people in your soon-to-be-former position, and you were one of the best and easiest to work with (right after Frema; yes, I am biased).

Aw, thanks, Luke! It means a lot to me that you said that. And I guess I can accept that your wife and mother of your child ranks just a wee bit higher than me in your book ;)

For the record, though... you were by far the best and easiest person to work with at that paper, too.

Woo-hoo! Congrats! You should move to ALGONQUIN! :) We could have a cocktail (but not a froofy, one, of course!)

Miss Hum - thanks!! I'm actually quite fond of Algonquin... I'm a suburbs kinda gal :) Cocktails sound wonderful right about now... and I'm so hard up, I might even accept a froofy one!
