I love the ice after a good ice storm. Have seen many other ice creations like these here in Indiana. Never thought about them looking like Mushrooms though! LOL Cool!
Scott - thanks! Actually, this picture was taken shortly after a flood. The river flooded well over the bank, and it froze while it was still high. This is from a warm day that helped the water recede, but not quite warm enough to melt all the ice.
Becky - I did take the picture. I'm a shoddy photographer, but I'm trying to learn some new skillz. With a z.
I am out and about alot in wooded areas and around ponds and streams with my geocaching hobby. And I really would love to master my picture taking skills as well. That much beauty....you would think I would get better at it. LOL
Becky -- I know that river. I've kayaked that river. More importantly I've smelled that river. I'm not sure if that's ice or the trees are attempting to sprout legs and run away.
Scott - keep trying! If you're out there all the time, you'll have plenty of opportunity to get it right :) I've always thought that geocaching sounds like so much fun!
Steve "anonymous" - Yeah... you've been missing some tasty aromas floating around Rensselaer with all the stagnant water. The whole city smells like one huge sewer. I feel like I'm in Terre Haute or something ;)
KC - thanks! I saw it while running an errand... I slowed down right in the middle of traffic because it was so striking. Of course there isn't *much* traffic around here, but I digress. I went straight home and got my camera.
after the farmer takes a wife, and the wife takes a child, and the child takes a nurse, and the nurse takes a cow, and the cow takes a dog, and the dog takes a cat, and the cat takes a rat, and the rat takes the cheese... the cheese stands alone. hi-ho, the derry-o.

That's wild looking.
Did you take that picture?
