The Stuff That Catches Up With You

Having to check your cell phone call log to remember exactly how long it's been since you've talked to your mom.

Realizing that it's been nearly twelve months since you became a college graduate.

Finding out that it still hurts that he stopped loving you, even though you've convinced yourself you're over him.

Coming to accept that the people who've changed your life are no longer the closest to you.

Understanding that when it comes to your career, the phrase "kill them with kindness" fails more often than not.

Coming across an old CD that once upon a time defined your life.

Holding the tiny hooded sweatshirt marked "Size: One Year" and crying behind your desk at 2:00 in the afternoon.

Coming to terms with the fact that you'll never be able to make yourself happy and will forever rely on other people to do it for you.

Coping with your best friend of eleven years marrying a man whom you barely know.

Learning that your problems and issues define who you are more than anything else about you.

Ignoring the wave of sadness that works its way through your entire body every time he glances in your direction.

"She's shiny-hair-style-section-Vera-Wang and I'm the-sex-column-they-run-next-to-ads-for-penile-implants."

Spending ten minutes with someone who makes you happy and realizing just how long it's been since you've had someone who makes you happy.

Being so completely owned by your job that a Friday night at home with your dirty dishes and rug that's screaming to be vaccumed actually sounds appealing.

Yay, an update! I will throw your link back up on my blog ASAP.

Also, don't give up on making yourself happy. You're the only one you can count on to do that--trust me. I know.

Someone told me recently that, "Where you are right now is exactly where God wants you to be." I hope that it helps you like it helped me. Thanks for all of your inspiration.
